After our 7 yr old son Samuel’s diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome, I decided it was time to blog what is going on in our lives as it is really crazy. This is also an avenue for me to be able to keep everyone up to date on understanding Asperger’s Syndrome as I am learning about it, as well as keeping track of our progress as each of us battle with our issues. For Michael and myself, it is overcoming our daily challenges of having brain injuries that were sustained after a severe car accident that we were both in in 2002. I was also 11 weeks pregnant with our son Samuel at the time. For our 4 yr old son Joshua, it is the challenge of learning how to eat orally and being finally independent of his g-tube due to his diagnosis (at 3 months) of Pierre Robin Sequence which caused him to be born with a cleft palate. And for our son Samuel, it is the challenge of learning how to live with Asperger’s syndrome and being able to cope in the world. Not an easy bunch of things to deal with, but we are getting through this one day at a time. It is important that at the heart of all of our coping is our Faith in Jesus Christ. Our life is incredibly hectic and HE is the Glue that holds us together. I hope you will be encouraged!
